A camisole and knickers
In the museum at Market Lavington, we have various items of clothing worn locally in the past. Some were purchased. Others, like this pair of undergarments, were hand made.
Dating from the 1930s, we have a pink silk camisole.
Viewed from the inside, we can see the hand sewn hemming.
Lace has been sewn on around the top and around the lower edge of the matching knickers. These were fastened with buttons, requiring hand sewn buttonholes.
