A ceramic colander
Amongst our collection of kitchenware at Market Lavington Museum, we have this colander.
Considering that our records say it dates from the late nineteenth century, it has survived in very good condition. Many of us use such items for washing and draining wet fruit and vegetables, but probably have a colander made of metal. This one is glazed china.
We know very little about it – just that its diameter is 24 cm at the top, 10.5cm at the base and it stands 42 cms high.
