Market Lavington Museum

A Market Lavington House for sale.

The first thing of interest here, perhaps, is that at the time of the sale (the 1980s?), Market Lavington had its own estate agent. Fox and Sons had premises at 3a, White Street in the village.

The house on offer was certainly individual in style, consisting of two Victorian railway carriages parked side by side with an enclosed and roofed space between them. The sale particulars, which we have at Market Lavington Museum, describe the property well.

There is no longer an estate agent in the village but the house, ‘Treetops’, still exists on the northern fringes of the parish.

Now, over to you, the reader. If you recognise this carriage – presumably a GWR coach – then do make contact to tell us more.
