Market Lavington Museum

A nursery rhyme tableau

Over the years, Market Lavington folk, young and old, have dressed up for all sorts of carnivals, plays, nativities and other events. At the museum, we are fortunate in having photographic evidence of this. We have already seen children dressed as Nursery Rhyme Characters in the mid 1920s. Here is another photograph on the same theme, said to date from about 1920 – a hundred years ago.

We do not have everyone named, but believe that the back row includes Doris Baker, .. Trotter, Edna Mills, Jack Potter and Rosie Ingram. In the middle are Ted Oram, Stella Robin and Mabel Coleman, whilst Lily Buckland, Rose Matthews and Eric James Gye are in the front. We wonder which characters they all represent.
