A Victorian (or Edwardian) lady
Amongst our many photographs at Market Lavington Museum, we have this one of a lady standing outside a house on Parsonage Lane in Market Lavington.
Our records are not entirely clear about who she was, though there is some possible identification written on the back of the mount.
Mrs May Elisha, well known as a school teacher in Market Lavington, had been born Helena May Potter. The pencilled writing on the back of the photo suggests that it could be a picture of her maternal grandmother. This is a close up of the lady in our picture and, below, is a black and white photo of Helena May Potter’s mother, Mary Ann, before she married May’s father, Ed Potter.
