Market Lavington Museum

An organ pedal board

Market Lavington Museum is situated in a cottage adjacent to St Mary’s churchyard, so this artefact comes from a very close neighbour.

It is the pedal board from the church organ, said to date from the 1920s. It is a thirty note concave radiating pedal board, made of beech wood. Later in the 20th century, the Oswald firm installed an exhaust pneumatic action system, which required a new pedal board.

This one was donated to the museum in about 1990.
