Market Lavington Museum

Football on the recreation ground

We have previously featured A Postcard from the recreation ground, a delightful tinted view, looking towards St Mary’s Church in Market Lavington.

Here we have a similar view, but its condition can hardly be classed as delightful!

We do not have a date for this card, but it obviously predates the building of the Shires Close houses by many decades. Despite its tatty state, it provides great evidence of the former use of this area of Market Lavington and of a previous look for football kit with leather boots and long shorts.
