Fund raising for the organ

In our previous blog entry, Church organ repairs, we learned that expensive work was needed on St Mary’s organ towards the end of the 20th century.

One of the fund raising events for this was a bring and buy cake sale and coffee morning and we have the advert for this in Market Lavington Museum.

We note that cakes could be left at 11 High Street, next to Lloyds Bank. The bank closed in 1996, so the cake sale predates that.

At the museum we have An organ pedal board which was given about 1990, so it may well have been taken out as part of this late 20th century organ restoration work.

The pedal board will need relocating in our museum now, following building repairs and reorganisation at the museum.
