More steam at Lavington

Yesterday – 29th June, yet another steam train passed through the site of Lavington Station. At mid day it passed through heading west – for Bristol and it returned at about 6pm.

This time the loco, ‘Clan Line’ came from the rival Southern Railway and in its working life it would have been accustomed to hauling expresses from Waterloo to Exeter via Salisbury.

This time it was hauling the Pullman carriages of the Orient Express and it made a fine sight as it raced through, with the evening sun behind it. Our photographer decided to give it a bit of an old time feel by making it black and white.
