More timber for the Gyes

At Market Lavington Museum, we are fortunate to have many records from the Gye firm of builders, wheelwrights and funeral arrangers, spanning over a hundred years. We have already seen a wonderful headed bill from Honeystreet in Timber for Market Lavington, but the family firm also sourced wood more locally. This bill is from the local village of Urchfont, which was still spelt Erchfont in 1900.

Various items had been purchased including oak and ash planks and some coffin board.

The total cost was just over £10.
