Moving the organ – Hopkins again

Our previous blog entry, Another Hopkins billhead, featured an unused page from a book of headed paper available for quotes, bills and receipts by the Market Lavington firm of Hopkins.

We are already aware that they were involved in some major work at West Lavington Church over a hundred years ago. (See A Receipt from W Hopkins and Sons). It would appear that the organ needed to be moved, but left in a fit condition for temporary use. The invoice below prices this job at £1. 8s. 6d in 1911. (20 shillings made a pound and 12 pence made a shilling.)
