Market Lavington Museum

Pram display at Market Lavington Museum

We are very lucky, at Market Lavington Museum to have a Victorian pram – a display item in itself – which can be used to display baby clothes and other items.

This year, in honour of our late curator, Peggy Gye, we have given a doll a 1920s look, dressed in the gown which Peggy wore back in 1923. (This has already featured in this blog.) The doll is topped with a 1920s bonnet and an appropriate shawl has been used for the baby to lie on.

Like everything in the museum, the clothing has a Market Lavington, including Easterton, connection. Our records tell us who owned the items.

The pram and dressed doll form part of the revamped upstairs displays which form a part of the museum Silver Jubilee season.

We look forward to seeing you when the museum opens, on Saturday 1st May or as soon as possible after that. Opening times are Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Bank Holiday afternoons from May to October. If you would like to visit at other times then please contact the curator.
