Trades
There were people living in Market Lavington and Easterton in Roman and Saxon times and, by the 19th century we had a thriving little town with many shops including a department store. People worked in a variety of trades as can be seen in our collections of related objects. These include tools and pictures connected to the work of blacksmiths, wheelwrights, whitesmiths, photographers, basket makers, cheesemakers, farmers, market gardeners and many others. Other local employment was to be had at the local brickworks and bus company and the jam factory in Easterton.
